October 2, 2010: Evergreen vs. Northwest Christian

The Lady Geoducks travelled up to Kirkland, WA for their debut Cascade Conference season opener to take on Northwest Christian in a fierce, heart-wrenching battle. Evergreen drew first blood with Katie Mendoza’s finish at 35:12, starting with a through-ball assist from Brianna Speed. 50 seconds before the end of the first half, Northwest equalized with a cross followed by a header. Second half action saw the Geoducks create several opportunities that either flew wide or were saved by the Northwest keeper. Northwest finished the second half with two more goals, dropping Evergreen 1-3. Vast improvements were made by the Evergreen offense with seven shots on goal, and Brienna Ewolt having eight saves for the defense. Evergreen falls to 0-4-1, 0-1 CCC, while Northwest improves to 4-1-2, 1-0 CCC. Evergreen continues the season play on Friday October 8, at home vs. Eastern Oregon University.
