Melissa Asks that You Connect With Others
Fellow Students,
One of the important things about college is making connections. College is not just about learning academically, but also learning socially. I want to encourage students to make connections with students outside of their immediate group. There are many people from all kinds of backgrounds and opinions here at Evergreen that have more to offer than you can ever imagine. If you don’t socialize with people from different backgrounds and with different ideas, you limit your understanding of the world. I place a high value on finding people with different opinions as well as like-minded people to befriend because you never know what someone has to offer. In addition, I believe that Second and third years should make an extra effort to connect with others as well. It’s easy to get stuck in a friend rut and only hang with people you’ve already made connections with. However, even if you are only making connections within your own class, you can/should still make the effort to get together with people outside of the classroom so you can get to know them on a non-academic forum.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Student
