This week, my fellow classmates did a presentation on Pasifika culture, which was amazing! They all did a fantastic job of presenting the information. Some of it made me think of the Philippines because while it isn’t part of any of the groups, it still is faced with some of the same stereotypes, prejudices, and economic problems that PI face.

Another thing is that it seemed to me that not a lot of people understood the poem they showed us? or they did but didn’t really think much of it. There were also some people who didn’t really respect the students giving the presentation since they were on their phones or game consoles. It was very disrespectful to not give them your full attention. Would you pay attention if Chico is teaching us? Then you should pay attention when they are teaching us, especially since some of it is from their own experiences. If you do it even when Chico is teaching, then what is the point of you taking this class. Many of us are taking this class because it is one of the only classes that we will ever see that talks about our history, and gives us a chance to learn more about ourselves. Also, Chico is one of the best professors in this college and getting to be in a class that’s not only taught by him but is also about APIA history and culture is a privilege not many of us get.
