My home is many things. The Pacific Northwest. Recently, Japan. Metaphorically, I feel at home listening to and playing music, eating, and playing video games. I am still in the process of writing my proposal and deciding what my “home” is and how Asian-American culture helps me connect with it. These are some ideas I have been considering:
Growing up attending a church with a large Filipino population.
Video games. I love Japanese role-playing games. I also enjoy watching e-sports. Many e-sports players are Asian and Asian-American.
I love music, including some Asian and Asian-American musicians.
My dad’s love of Asian cuisine meant that I ate at a lot of Asian-American-owned restaurants growing up.
By Wednesday I will chose one of these to hone in on and I will turn in my formal project proposal.
