Evergreen Hoopsters Earn All-CCC Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – After a pair of seasons that taught the Evergreen men’s and women’s basketball teams a lot about themselves, a quartet of Geoduck hoopsters have been honored by the Cascade Collegiate Conference, as announced on Monday.

Senior Latrina Woods (Skyway, Wash./La Sierra University) was the lone representative from Evergreen to earn first-team honors as she was named to the 12-member All-CCC Women’s Basketball Team.  She concluded her final collegiate season by leading the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game, also adding 4.9 rebounds per game and 2.6 assists per game.

Women’s basketball freshman Danielle Swain (Rainier, Wash./Black Hills HS) earned honorable mention honors in her first season after leading the CCC in rebounding with 9.3 per game, also adding 11.7 points per game as she nearly averaged a double-double for her freshman year.

On the men’s side, senior Josh Troyer (Vancouver, Wash./Lower Columbia CC) and junior Marice Tolliver (Tacoma, Wash./Lower Columbia CC) each earned honorable mention honors to represent the Geoducks.

Tolliver finished the season ranked third in the conference in rebounds at 7.2 per game, including a conference-best 6.08 defensive rebounds per game, and third in blocked shots at 1.16 per game.  Troyer led the conference in minutes played at 33.14 per game.

Concordia nearly swept the individual awards for the women as Danielle Clauson was named Player of the Year, Courtney May was named Newcomer of the Year and Aaron Christian was named Coach of the Year.  College of Idaho’s Nicole Gall was named Defensive Player of the Year.

In the men’s awards, Player of the Year went to Joseph Foster of Oregon Tech.  Northwest’s Greg Peters was named Defensive Player of the Year while Jordan Highland of Southern Oregon earned Newcomer of the Year honors.  Legendary Oregon Tech coach Dan Miles was named Coach of the Year, the sixth time he has earned the honor.
