Eagles Blank Geoducks, 2-0

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Freshman Malin Eriksson scored once and assisted on another as the Trinity Lutheran Eagles shut out the Evergreen Geoducks, 2-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer match on Wednesday afternoon at Evergreen Pitch in Olympia, Wash.

The Eagles got on the board for the first time in the 39th minute when Eriksson fed in a ball to Kaeli Eberth, who chipped it over Kaitlin MacKenzie (Lake Stevens, Wash./Shoreline CC) for the 1-0 halftime lead.

Trinity Lutheran extended the lead just 51 seconds into the second half when Eriksson unleashed a shot from about 25 yards out that sailed over the head of Lauren Davidson (Seattle, Wash./Garfield HS) and into the net for the 2-0 lead.

Evergreen was outshot 17-3 on the afternoon.  Davidson made three saves for the Geoducks after coming on at halftime.

The Geoducks take a 10-day break before preparing to take on Westminster College, who is currently ranked 21st in the NAIA Top 25.  Kick with the Griffins is set for 11 a.m. on Sep. 22 on Evergreen Pitch in Olympia, Wash.
