OLYMPIA, Wash. – Terrika Weaver scored twice and assisted on another as the Corban Warriors ran past the Evergreen Geoducks, 5-1, in a Cascade Conference women’s soccer match on Saturday afternoon at Evergreen Pitch in Olympia, Wash.
The Warriors got on the board just 10:19 into the game as Weaver fed in a ball to Audrey Sullivan, who snuck it past Geoduck keeper Kaitlin MacKenzie (Lake Stevens, Wash./Shoreline CC) for the 1-0 advantage. Emily Tsugawa made it 2-0 with a goal in the 21st minute, which was followed just 20 seconds later by a goal from Katelyn Weaver, who fired in from 10 yards out as Corban took a 3-0 lead into the break.
Corban wasn’t done scoring in the second half as Weaver scored her first goal of the game, dribbling around Lauren Davidson (Seattle, Wash./Garfield HS), who had replaced MacKenzie in net for the second half. Weaver wrapped up the big day in the 62nd minute, taking the cross from Emily Boudreau and firing it into the net.
The Geoducks got the final score as Haley Lightfoot (Spokane, Wash./North Idaho College) scored her second goal in as many days in the 78th minute, taking the pass from Anna Stump (Boone, N.C./Ashford Univ.) and shooting it in from six-yards out.
The Warriors held an 18-8 advantage on shots, forcing the Geoducks to make four saves. Corban also showed a willingness to go on the attack, being whistled for offsides nine times, compared with just once for Evergreen.
The Geoducks will head north for their next match, traveling to Kirkland, Wash. on Friday to take on Northwest. Corban will also be on the road on Friday, making the trip south to Ashland, Ore. to take on Southern Oregon.
