#23 Lutes Send Geoducks Home with Loss, 4-0

PARKLAND, Wash. – Hitting the road for the first time, the Evergreen Geoducks ran up against the 23rd-ranked Pacific Lutheran Lutes and it was the home squad earning the 4-0 win in a non-conference men’s soccer match on Sunday afternoon on West Field in Parkland, Wash.

The Lutes got on the board in the sixth minute as Giancarlo Santoro fed a ball in to Derek Johnson , who put the ball past Evergreen keeper Collin Harlow (Kirkland, Wash./Juanita HS/Shoreline CC).  PLU made it 2-0 before the half as Johnson scored again following a corner kick by Rigoberto Loreto.

Pacific Lutheran added two more quick goals in the early part of the second half.  Loreto scored an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute and then fed a ball to Brian Lefavour for a goal in the 56th minute.

PLU held a 12-4 advantage on shots as Willie Spurr (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt HS) was the only Geoduck able to put the ball on frame.  Harlow finished with four saves on the afternoon and the Geoducks were whistled offsides three times, compared with once for the Lutes.

Evergreen heads to Oregon for the first time on Saturday afternoon when they take on Whitworth in a neutral site contest at Willamette.  First kick with the Pirates is set for 1 p.m. in Salem, Ore.
