Columbia Riverkeeper is a result of two groups, Columbia River United and Clean Water Columbia, which merged in 2000. A public interest group working to protect the Columbia river, they remain a grassroots organization powered by the river communities. Their strategies include pushing for enforcement of environmental laws, hands-on citizen action and community organizing.
