This book is about what has been going on behind the scenes of the food consumer market. Newman goes into detail of the history of food economy, and the consumer relationship with food. Topics such as wall street’s influence and food grade are discussed. Many more consumer related topics are covered.

Tompkins, Kyla Wazana. (2012). Racial Indigestion: Eating Bodies in the 19th Century. New York: New York University Press.

The topic of this book covers racial and sexists asociations with food, the kitchen and the hearth in the 19th century. Tompkins talks about children’s stories and advertisements that contain racial and class discrimination.  Tompkins also goes into the idea of cannibalistic symbolisms in food.

This is a book of art relating to human impact on the Earth. There are many pictures of art reflecting human impact on nature, through a range of different medias: paintings, photos, sculptures, mixed media, etc.

Rogers, R. D. (2006). The fungal pharmacy: Medicinal mushrooms of western Canada. Edmonton, Alta.: Prairie Deva Press.

This is a guide to medicinal fungi native to western Canada. This book has an incredible amount of information covering fungi chemical constituents, medicinal uses, clinical studies, history, etc.

Stamets, P. (2000). Growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms: =. Berkeley: Ten Speed Press.

This book is about growing mushrooms at home, or commercially, for food and medicine. This book includes a troubleshooting guide, information on mushroom medicinal properties, and growing guidelines for 31 species of mushrooms.

Stamets, P., & Chilton, J. S. (1983). The mushroom cultivator: A practical guide to growing mushrooms at home. Olympia, WA: Agarikon Press.

This book is a very helpful step-by-step guide to cultivating mushrooms at home. This book covers proper techniques for sterilization, cultivation, harvesting, refining genetics and much more.
