Our lab has specialized in ecosystem science, physiology and aquatic ecology of native cottonwood forests in the western US. We are always looking for new projects. Below-ground ecology, aquatic science, decomposition studies, carbon cycling, tree water-use, isotope analyses,  and nutrient cycling are just a few of the areas we have explored in the ecology of cottonwoods in colaboration with the cottonwood ecology group. We have especially focused on the role of genetic variation in structuring larger ecosystem processes.

In 2020, we are again working with data from the Cibola, Arizona garden.
