Capstone Weeks: 6-9
During the last month of this quarter, I was busy writing and editing my final paper. This time was composed of multiple rough drafts and scratchy notes I made to myself. Here is the current copy that I am turning in as the final draft of my work for this quarter:

GRuB: Weeks 7-10
During the last few weeks of my internship with GRuB, my interest has grown in flower bouquet production. At the beginning of Spring, on my first day, I separated dahlia tubers for replanting. Now at the end of the summer, those tubers that were planted in May are producing flowers. Along with dahlias, there are also gladiolas, sunflowers, zinnias, amaranth, calendula, yarrow, lavender, marigolds, hydrangeas, as well as an assortment of greenery and other flowers that the youth occasionally throw into the bouquets, even though they were not necessarily planted for that purpose. GruB: Week 4-6
One of my favorite summer activities is pruning tomato plants. I like needing to regularly re-prune, at least every week until later in the season when the fruits swell. I like the sickly sweet smell of the tomato alkaloids, the same smell that others despise. I even like the yellow, green, and purple residue that linkers on my fingers after going down the whole row and pinching off plant suckers.
Week 4
This week I started interviews with the individuals who responded to my requests for interview. I have met the gardeners at their plots. Each interview has been running about 30 minutes. Below are some of my favorite kitchen maps.
Week 5- Mid quarter eval
Week 3-Beginning interviews
My Human Subjects Review was officially approved this week…with one change. The review board decided that they could not let it move forward with the inclusion of my proposal to give garden produce as a gift in exchange for interviewee’s time.
GRuB Weeks 1-3
Summer quarter at GRuB! How has it changed? What has stayed the same? Last quarter I was spending about 25 hours a week at GRuB working on the farm and this quarter I’m there about 16 hours a week (only ten of which are for academic credit).
Week 2- Unofficial timeline
Self-made deadlines:
July 13th (Week 3)–Identify what themes I expect to be writing about
July 20th (Week 4)–First draft of methodology, history, and resource sections written.
July 27th (Week 5)–Mid quarter evaluation is due. I will be evaluating where I am in my progress with interviews.
August 1st (Week 6)– I’d like to have 90% of interviews completed, and excerpts transcribed, by this date.
August 10th (Week 7)– I’d like to have 100% of interviews completed, and excerpts transcribed, by this date.
August 17th (Week 8)– I’d like to have my first draft, in its completion, ready for faculty and peer review.
August 24th (Week 9)- Second draft ready for faculty and peer review.
August 30th (Week 10)– If final presentations are happening, which I assume they are, I’m also assuming they’d be happening on this date.
August 30th (Week 10)– Near complete draft of paper ready to read for presentations, with my own prediction that I’ll be making small changes up until Monday September 3rd.
September 7th (Evaluation Week)– Official last day of the quarter, paper must be in its final form.
