Pseudocyphellae are pores in the thallus surface that open to the medulla, and can appear in various spots on a lichen. (Contrast with cyphellae.)
A break in the lower cortex indicates a psuedocyphllum in this cross section of Pseudocyphellaria anomala. (A. Fischer--3/2011)
