LEWISTON, Idaho– Geoduck men’s basketball lost their second game of the weekend at the Life Flight Network Thanksgiving Tournament Saturday night against Montana’s Carroll College 86-67.
Just as Evergreen State (1-5) did the night before, they would go into halftime with a lot of catching up to do. Against Lewis-Clark State Friday night, Evergreen trailed by 17 points at the half. On Saturday night, Carroll (7-2) would go into the locker room with a 15-point advantage. However, unlike Friday night the Geoducks would not be able to make a surge and the Saints would prevail by a 19-point margin.
Carroll’s Andy Garland (Missoula, Mont.) would not be denied on Saturday night as he would torch the Geoducks for 25 points on 12 of 15 shooting from the field. Garland was the game’s leading scorer.
Evergreen Sophomore Tyrell Dixon (Tacoma, Wash. / Mt. Tahoma HS) recovered from his worst shooting night as a Geoduck vs. LCSC by dropping 16 points on Carroll. Dixon was on a mission early as 14 of his 16 points were scored in the first half of play.
Carroll dominated the paint throughout the game, out-rebounding Evergreen 40-28 and knocking down 40 points in the paint compared to E-State’s 26.
The Geoducks hit the road again for a Pacific Northwest match-up and look to snap their five-game losing streak Tuesday night at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon at 7:30 p.m.
