October 2, 2010: Evergreen vs. Oregon Tech

The Geoducks played host to the Hustling Owls of Oregon Tech on Saturday on the campus of The Evergreen State College.  An emotional roller coaster of a day was in store for the home town faithful.  A game that started with a few real chances in the first half grew more and more tense and unpredictable over its span.  Early in the second half Geoduck striker Kevin Bourland was brought down in the box.  Chris Miller finished the spot kick to put the Geoducks on top 1-0.  Evergreen pressed the attack and threw wave after wave forward in search of a second goal.  In the final minute of play the visitors caught the Geoducks on the counter and found their way forward for a corner.  Oscar Alonso Ayala finished neatly to send the game into extra time.  Evergreen continued to press forward, garnering three shots on the goal during the first overtime period.  The second 10 minute extra frame saw the Geoducks lose steam.  The Owls looked to get the big break as keeper Casey Collins was called for a foul in the box.  Evergreen looked as though they would concede all three points, but in the final act of  the tense affair, Collins stretched far to his left to parry the shot wide.
