OLYMPIA, Wash. – Sophomore Dyson Fowler (North Bend, Wash./Mount Si HS) booted in the game-winner with just 25 seconds left in the second overtime as the Evergreen Geoducks earned revenge for an earlier overtime loss against the College of Idaho Coyotes in a Cascade Conference men’s soccer match on Friday afternoon in Olympia, Wash.

The ‘Yotes (5-7-0, 4-4-0 CCC) got on the scoreboard first when Brad Byers put in a free kick from right outside the box to give College of Idaho the 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.  Evergreen didn’t answer back until the 77th minute when senior Corey Johnson (Longview, Wash./Mark Morris HS) scored his third goal of the season.

The teams remained tied after 90 minutes and again after the first 10 overtime minutes so for the second time this season, the two teams faced off in the second overtime period.  With neither team really able to create much offense, the Geoducks finally broke through as Brandon Wood (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho/North Idaho College) got in a ball to Fowler, who put in the game winner in the 110th minute as Evergreen earned the 2-1 win.

The game was pretty even in all categories, as the Geoducks led in shots, 18-11, and corner kicks, 4-3.  Evergreen keeper Christian Pettit (Sprint Branch, Texas/UT-San Antonio) while College of Idaho keeper Aaron Reynolds made four stops on the afternoon.

The Geoducks will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Oregon Tech, beginning at 1pm.  College of Idaho will also be in action, facing off against Northwest at 3:30pm in Kirkland, Wash.
