Northwest Connections Community Based Conservation and Education
Winter is slowly filling in the Swan Valley with snow, and we are preparing for our 2012 educational programs. We are excited to share our amazing conservation classroom with the next generation of conservation leaders!
Our Wildlife in the West summer field program promises to deepen one’s connections to bear, lynx, wolf, and salmon conservation in the Northern Rockies. For a peek at what we do in this amazing course, check out the gorgeous photo book by 2011 intern Robin Keisic.
The Landscape & Livelihood field semester will get deep into rural wildland conservation next fall. In addition to engaging activities and community meetings, we will be harvesting from a new farm at our facility that will both feed students and provide a window into local food production. Northwest Connections is also developing “Swan Valley Innovations,” a sustainable business incubator, that will bring students to the intersection of rural conservation and economic vitality. For a sample of student experience on this course, check out our fall 2011 Barn Blog entries.
For the best chance of admission to either of these courses, students are encouraged to apply by February 1st. Completed applications received by that date will receive a tuition break, and will be considered for admission before all later applications.
