The High Desert Museum in Bend,Oregon has several openings for part-time and full-time, seasonal Intern positions. Interns will assist Museum staff with daily management and husbandry of animals on exhibit as well assisting with wildlife programs including public presentation of mammals, reptiles and a free-flight raptor program.

The Internship is meant to provide experience in the field of environmental education, including practical knowledge in wildlife husbandry and museum exhibits.

Successful candidates will make a significant contribution to the High Desert Museum’s Wildlife Department, and will be supported in any projects required for credit at his/her university, and gain references to further a career in natural resources, wildlife care and husbandry.

The Wildlife Intern’s daily basic responsibilities include:

• Daily husbandry and management of animals

included in public programs.

• Maintenance of all Wildlife Exhibits, including

mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, and invertebrates.

• Assist museum staff in the public presentation

and interpretation of wildlife, including mammals,

reptiles, amphibians and birds of prey.
