The WWIN Education Grant provides assistance for tuition and books at accredited institutions in the state of Washington. The WWIN grant is the last funding source applied to tuition and book expenses, after all federal and private grants and scholarships. This means that women will only be eligible for WWIN funding if other grants and scholarships received do not fully cover costs of tuition and books. The WWIN Education Grant funds up to $5,000 over one year for low income women throughout the State of Washington and applicants are selected based on financial criteria, a balanced distribution among the schools, and the order in which the application was received.
In order to apply, women must be enrolled in the school of their choice and have completed the federal financial aid (FAFSA) form and received their award letter. WWIN can fund any level of degree or vocational certification through a Bachelor’s degree. In order to receive funding, students must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average and be eligible for in-state tuition at accredited institutions.
Applications will be available on our website November 5th and 6th only. Applicants will need to have been accepted to a school that accepts Federal Financial Aid and have filled out a FAFSA prior to applying. There will be one page of the application that the school will need to fill out so we recommend that applicants be on campus when they print out the application. Once received by WWIN, complete applications are processed on a first come first served basis. If the application is processed, WWIN will call applicants on the telephone to do a phone screening. If the applicant appears to be eligible after the initial screening they will need to come into our office in Bellevue for an in-person appointment. Applications will only be available by this procedure. The grants that we award will be for Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall terms of 2013/2014. We will contact all applicants by email by December 21st regardless of whether their application was processed or not. We will contact those applicants whose applications are processed for further review by the end of November 2012.
