Duties: Lead development of Tacoma’s community and municipal greenhouse gas inventory using 2012 data. The initial inventory was completed in 2008 using ICLEI’s GHG Inventory software and a newer version of that software will be the primary means of data collection and reporting. Additionally, the student will explore using a complimentary consumption based inventory protocol such as used in King County and others as outlined in this Wiki toolkit.

Support and guidance for this project will mainly come from the City’s Office of Environmental Policy and Sustainability, although staff support from the Environmental Services Department and Tacoma Power will be available.

Skills: organized (lots of holes to fill), attention to detail (the decimal place matters), self directed (much work done offsite), persistent (need to get data from variety of organizations and individuals)

Duration: mid-March through end of May, 20 hr/week on average

Stipend: $ 1000
