Wood River Land Trust protects and restores land, water, and wildlife habitat in the Wood River Valley and its surrounding areas. We seek one Conservation Outreach and Stewardship Intern with a background or keen interest in environmental outreach and private land conservation for a summer intern position. This position offers the opportunity to learn about land management and community conservation in a fast-paced, hands-on setting. The Wood River Land Trust is located in scenic south-central Idaho, near Sun Valley and the Sawtooth Mountains.

Duties:

 Assist Stewardship Coordinator in conservation easement monitoring, which includes GPS data collection and landowner communication;

 Manage Land Trust preserves according to management plans, which includes weed control, trail maintenance, and restoration work;

 Assist Project Coordinator with community conservation outreach, including the Trout Friendly Lawn Program;

 Perform other tasks as necessary, such as leading educational programs, coordinating volunteers, and events assistance.

 

Requirements:

 Physical, outdoor labor as well as flexible work on evenings/weekends

 A driver’s license and good driving record. Use of company vehicle is provided for work purposes only.

 Ability to work with people in groups and as an individual

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 Educational background in natural resources, or similar field

 Experience with GPS and conservation outreach

 Strong oral communication and writing skills

This is a 12-15 week internship with a start date in May. This position is 35 hrs/week, with a flexible schedule including some weekends. A living allowance of $1,000/month and housing are provided.
