Coral Restoration Foundation offers internships throughout the year for young, marine conservation minded individuals. The internship is designed to introduce individuals to the non-profit sector of marine conservation, focusing on the restoration of coral reef ecosystems. The successful applicants will gain a range of experiences including office organization and field skills which include maintaining CRF’s Upper Keys coral nurseries and outplanting corals onto the reefs. The program is geared towards those enrolled in an undergraduate program, graduate program, or individuals who are recent graduates.
CRF is located in Key Largo, Florida. Intern positions generally last 3-4 months and are full-time, unpaid positions. Interns can expect to gain a vast amount of experience both on the water and in the Education Center (EC). In the EC, interns perform a range of tasks including answering phones, greeting visitors and answering questions, inputting data, and performing aquarium maintenance. Dive days occur 2-4 times a week, where interns assist CRF staff with various activities including maintenance in CRF’s offshore nurseries, outplanting corals to designated restoration sites throughout the Upper Keys, and leading fellow divers participating in our dive program.
