Through the GLOBE (Growing Leaders on Behalf of the Environment) internship program, The Nature Conservancy hires students and recent college graduates to fill paid internship positions during a 10-week summer internship. This is a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to bridge the gap between what is learned in the classroom and on-the-ground work in the world of conservation. Additionally, the GLOBE program provides interns with the chance to directly work toward a sustainable future for our planet on the side of the Conservancy, the world’s largest environmental organization.
JOB TITLE: GIS/Conservation Lands GLOBE Intern
OFFICE LOCATION: Concord, New Hampshire (NH)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The primary responsibility of the GIS/Conservation Lands GLOBE Intern is to:
Solicit conservation land boundaries and attribute information from New Hampshire conservation organizations and local, state and federal conservation partners
Manage incoming data updates
Edit and create conservation tract boundaries
Update tract attributes
Work with New Hampshire Filed Office’s stewardship program to research and refine GIS boundaries of TNC land interests

JOB TITLE: GIS/Field Technician GLOBE Intern
OFFICE LOCATION: Pukalani, Hawaii (HI)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The GIS/Field Technician Globe Intern will assist the GIS Specialist and must be able to navigate using a GPS, download, post-process and edit GIS files. The GIS/Field Technician Globe Intern will use ESRI ArcGIS 10 and be familiar with data entry into a geo-database, making maps and reports and imagery analysis. The GIS/Field Technician Globe Intern position requires an enthusiastic, motivated, action-oriented person with experience in natural resources management field operations in potentially hazardous conditions. These operations include surveying, mapping, monitoring and controlling alien species and their impacts to native forests. The GIS/Field Technician Globe Intern must be willing to camp in remote mountainous areas and operate in extremely rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions. Work environment involves exposure to job hazards where there is a high possibility of injury as well as helicopter operations so a commitment to safety is essential. Other acti vities include vehicle, equipment and facilities maintenance and outreach.
