Job Description
The City of Kent Planning Services office is seeking applicants for a Planning Intern position. This fall 2014 opportunity will involve a 20-40 hour per week commitment and pays $15.00 hourly.
Description:
The Planning Intern administers basic land use and environmental regulations and will quickly become familiar with regulatory processes and the operation of municipal government. Planning interns work closely with experienced professionals of multiple disciplines in a supportive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain marketable experience in the planning field.
Qualifications: Though no land use planning experience is required, excellent writing and interpersonal skills, as well as basic GIS literacy are highly desirable. It is important that the intern be able to learn quickly, ask questions as necessary, and exercise sound judgment when working with the public. The successful candidate must be dependable and able to concurrently manage multiple deadlines.
Required education: Current enrollment in, or recent completion of a degree program with emphasis on Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies/Science, Public Administration or a related academic field.
