The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) is seeking a Program and Outreach Intern to support SER’s Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) program and Restoration Resource Center (RRC). The intern will also assist with general outreach and communications to the Society’s members and followers, including via social media.

SER’s Restoration Resource Center (RRC) is an online clearinghouse for information and tools to support the work of restoration practitioners, researchers, educators, students, and anyone else interested in restoration. About the Internship
This internship provides an opportunity to build your knowledge about ecological restoration practices and trends, strengthen your project management skills, and gain experience developing social media messages targeted to an international community of science practitioners. Tasks will include:
CERP and RRC Program Support
- Review and update a listing of academic institutions offering advanced degree programs and certificates in ecological restoration and closely related fields.
- Expand the listing of academic institutions to include degree programs outside North America.
- Assist in building the RRC project database by conducting outreach to certified practitioners and other SER constituents and encouraging project submissions.
- Conduct research to update and expand select projects in the RRC database.
- Prepare outreach and social media materials to help promote the RRC and CERP programs
General Outreach
- Build upon an existing social media strategy to prepare content and help increase SER’s relevance with its members, potential funders, other environmental organizations, and the general public.
- Research current news articles related to ecological restoration for posting on SER’s social media sites.
- Assist in delivering periodic newsletters for our members and contacts.
- Help promote online discussions related to ecological restoration.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Current student working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree, preferably in environmental science or a related field
- Strong communication skills and professional writing ability
- Ability to work independently
- Website content management and social media experience a plus
- Familiarity with ecological restoration a plus
Terms:
- Intern may work at SER’s Washington, DC office or telecommute
- Minimum 25 hours/week, with the opportunity for more
- Work schedule is flexible
- June 4th start date is preferred but negotiable
- A small stipend will be provided ($1,200)
