ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY
The Patel College of Global Sustainability (PCGS) is the newest degree-granting college at the University of South Florida (USF) and is unique in its mission and approach. PCGS was established in January 2014 to serve as the hub of sustainability experts for research, teaching and practice that address the multiple sustainability challenges at the local, regional and global levels. The College employs an elite core faculty and staff with its real strength being its ability to assemble and coordinate a multidisciplinary network of scholars and professional experts working together to generate useful knowledge and prepare a new generation of sustainability professionals. Already recognized globally as a leader in sustainability research, education and engagement, the College has grown significantly. A Master’s degree in Global Sustainability is currently on offer in nine concentrations, engaging faculty from across the University to work with students in such strategically important areas as renewable energy, water, food security, climate change, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, sustainable enterprise, sustainable tourism, and policy for sustainability.

POSITION SUMMARY/DUTIES:
PCGS is searching for an innovative Postdoctoral Fellow who is interested in working with an interdisciplinary team that is committed to addressing the social, economic and environmental challenges of local and global communities on building a sustainable future. The research focus of the Fellow will be on the science, policy and practice interface of global sustainability through innovative research methods that transcend disciplinary boundaries. This is a full-time one-year position that may be renewed annually depending on satisfactory performance and funding availability for up to a maximum of three years. The Fellow may be asked to teach one graduate course per semester in addition to conducting research. The selected candidate will be a member of the College faculty under the direct supervision of Professor Govindan Parayil, Dean of the Patel College of Global Sustainability, and will conduct research, publish manuscripts, present at conferences, and prepare proposals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in social and natural sciences, engineering, public policy, public administration, management or in a field closely related to global sustainability from reputable research universities is required. Only those applicants who have received their PhD in 2014 or after will be considered; ABD candidates will not be considered unless they will receive their PhD by December 2018. The candidate should have the scientific maturity to supervise graduate students, be able to work independently and collaboratively, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and have a good track record of or potential for high-impact research publications in their areas of expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with research expertise or experience in one or more of the following will be reviewed favorably: Renewable Energy, Water, Climate Change, Food Security, Sustainable Enterprise & Innovation, Sustainability Policy, Sustainable Engineering, Sustainable Urbanization, Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services, Earth System Modeling and the Anthropocene, Food-Energy-Water Nexus, Sustainable Development Goals, or Multi-level Transition Towards Sustainability. Experience in interdisciplinary sustainability research, data acquisition and analysis would be an advantage.
