Summary:

The Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group strives to deepen the connection between land, people, and salmon through restoration, education, and research. Our mission is to ensure that wild salmon are once again abundant in the Pacific Northwest.

The Education/Outreach Intern will assist in established education and outreach programs and events in the classroom and on site settings. Interns will have the opportunity to be involved with salmon enhancement and sustainable agriculture projects, while assisting in the development of education programs to fit the needs of the organization and the community. The Salmon Center utilizies formal curriculum to educate the community and classrooms in the 15 school districts within Kitsap, Mason, and Jefferson County.

Eligibility:

  • Open to recent college graduates and current college students pursuing a degree in education/environmental field
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must pass a background check

Applicant should be:

  • A dependable individual with leadership qualities
  • Detail oriented, with a positive attitude and excellent communication/people skills
  • Experienced with teaching, outreach, etc. in working with K-12 youth
  • Comfortable in a group setting
  • CPR/ First Aid certified is preferred, but not required

Terms of Employment:

Hours per week: Flexible, ~ 15 during spring, 20-30 during summer Start/End Date: Flexible, ideally Spring Quarter, Summer Quarter
Stipend/Credit: Stipend available based on credit hours
