Where: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
When: May until December
Duties: Camp 6+ nights per week, monitor nesting activities, handle and tag turtles, rescue stranded hatchlings, excavate nests, record field data, and remove non-native predators (mongooses, rats, and feral cats).
Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age, posses a valid U.S. driver’s license, and have experience driving manual transmission vehicles. Volunteers must also be able to hike 7-12 miles with a 30+lbs. backpack, have a positive attitude, and a love for the outdoors.
Commitments of at least 10 weeks are preferred. Dorm style housing and a food stipend are provided.
