- Summer Internship w/ USGS – Multiple locations, WA
Christian Torgersen and Ben Dittbrenner will be offering a summer internship to assist in research for climate change and riparian restoration using beavers. The position is funded through USGS and pay is at the GS-5 level. Start and end dates are flexible, but the position is full time, from approximately July 1 through Sept or later if the applicant available. The formal announcement will be posted on USAjobs.gov, but the application period will be fairly short. This is a call for pre-applications so that applicants can be quickly reviewed and recommended for hire to USGS.

The selected intern will work independently and as a team member of on all aspects of the project, including beaver trapping, handling, and release. The intern will also spend considerable time doing environmental monitoring, site assessments, data collection, management, and analysis. Monitoring tasks will most often consist of collecting hydrology data (stream discharge, surface and groundwater monitoring, temperature, etc.), vegetation assessments, geomorphological characterization, wildlife camera work, and possibly telemetry.
