We are looking for intern help at our retreat www.adytumsanctuary.com in exchange for room/board. We are a start up under a year old and it would be difficult to pay wages, but depending on seasonal business, it may be possible. Adytum is 16 acres, 10 of which is in the forestry program as an alder/fir plantation. We have a small, new vineyard that we’d love to expand. We have 1/4 fenced acreage which is currently the dog park that we would like to add raised beds for organic gardens that would help feed our local community.

Our retreat is by Ike Kinswa State park and overlooks Lake Mayfield, and both the Tilton and Cowlitz Rivers, the DeGoedes Bulb and Pan American Blueberry fields. We are an hour from Olympia, two from Seattle, 1 1/2 from Portland. We have a small tractor and that’s what we’ve been using to clear the land of Himalayan Blackberries and Canary Grass with.

Additionally, our land, even though on a hill, has an amazing amount of natural springs that culminate in a beautiful creek that ends up flowing down to the DeGoede’s flower fields.
Internship would include the following:
10 acres designated forest land. Alder and Fir plantation. Forestry management, thinning, etc. as well as management of wetlands (surface springs running into a seasonal creek) with need for management of erosion at the banks and channeling the springs. Additionally 5 3/4 acres not in the program with the same needs.
