Position Title: Visitor Services Intern
Visitor Services Interns are an essential part of operations at the Refuges. They present interpretive walks and talks, develop programs for school children, create outreach tools like brochures, coordinate volunteers, staff the Wild Goose Nature Store, and perform a variety of other essential duties.

The Willamette Valley Refuges are located within the Willamette Valley of western Oregon, nestled between the Coastal Range and Cascade Mountains. The northern-most Refuge, Baskett Slough, is located approximately 10 miles west of Salem off US Hwy. 22. Ankeny Refuge is located between Salem and Albany, just west of I-5. William L. Finley Refuge is located off US Hwy. 99, south of Corvallis.

Position Description: This internship will provide valuable training in a fun, unique setting for those interested in a ranger/interpretation/environmental education/natural sciences career.
The intern will gain experience planning, assisting, and leading interpretive and environmental education programs, working with students and the public and learning operations of a nature store managed by the nonprofit Friends of the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex. The intern will work on special projects which may include developing new programs, creating instructional materials, designing exhibits, assisting with public events, and other duties as assigned. Opportunities to assist with other Refuge operations will also be provided.
