The Northwest Natural Resource Group is seeking an intern for our Northwest Certified Forestry (NCF) program (www.nwcertified.org). NCF is a membership program for small woodland owners that provides conservation-based forest management and forest products marketing assistance. NCF currently has over 150 members who collectively manage over 50,000 acres of forestland across the Pacific Northwest.
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about forestry and improving the economic and ecological values of forests in the Northwest. Applicants should have experience in: communications, journalism and public relations.
The NCF intern will engage in the following activities:
1. Interview and develop case studies of forest owners who are members of NCF
2. Produce short videos on NCF members and their projects
3. Develop articles for monthly NCF email newsletter
4. Provide outreach to regional newspapers and web-based media outlets
5. Assist with identifying forested tax parcels and parcel owners
The ideal applicant will have:
- Background in journalism, communications, public relations, or other related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Strong writing skills (samples required)
- Experience with basic video equipment and editing software
- Proficiency with web-based media
Opportunities include:

This part time internship (~10 hrs/week) will have flexible hours and location (intern should live in Western WA). Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
