The conservation data intern will work with science staff to locate, digitize, and organize conservation documents that currently exist only on paper. Digitizing will take a variety of forms, including scanning and manual data entry. The intern will also identify spatial data in the documents and create electronic spatial files using GIS software (training will be provided). The digitized documents will be organized in a website based on Microsoft SharePoint (training provided). The intern may also write brief reports summarizing the conservation and management history of major preserves. The internship will require excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn about the history of conservation in Texas. The intern will be based in the San Antonio office and will be supervised by the Research Ecologist and the Associate Director of Field Science. However, the intern will also travel to Conservancy preserves throughout the state of Texas to locate documents and interview staff about preserve management history.
