“The quality or condition inherent in a body that
exhibits opposite properties or powers in opposite parts or directions
or
that exhibits contrasted properties or powers in contrasted parts or directions : the condition of having poles”
(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
This past week in the dark room I came across something very new.
I laid loose leaf notebook paper over the photograph printing paper, the exposure light shines through it, and takes all of the textural and visual qualities with it on to the printing paper. This is an exciting move in the experimental directions in which I aim to walk in the dark room this quarter. Translucent materials translate textures over negatives. I used this technique for the piece I made this week for critique, which I am still thinking of a name for. My first two pieces will be up soon.
