We found mycelium growing out of leaf spots on host Malus domestica, cultured the unidentified fungus and followed a key sequence through Barnett & Hunter’s Illustrated Genera of Imperfect Fungi (4th ed.) to the Gonatobotryum genus. This is not a documented host-pest relationship, but G. appiculatum does cause a leaf spot of the genus Hamamelis.
