- a cleistothecium on the top of leaf after freeing itself from the underside of a neighboring leaf
- notice how the infection affects chlorophyll distribution in the leaf
- a cleistothecium (round ascocarp) using appendiges to slowly prying itself away from a leaf
- notice the opening where the asci carrying spores leave the cleistothecia
This was on a hazelnut leaf. The spores are oval, and non-septate. These Cliestothecia overwinter on leaf litter and then open up to produce spores in the spring. Phyllactinia is in the Phylum Ascomycota.
