Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is an ascomycete that attacks most, if not all annual vegetables and accounts for huge losses both in the field and post harvest. We found S. sclerotiorum overwintering on host Beta vulgaris (beets). The fungus reproduces asexually through sclerotia, sexually through ascospores.
