South Puget Sound

Sound Science Symposium

Bring together scientists working in the South Puget Sound ecosystem, including the watersheds that surround the marine waters. What have we learned? What does our science tell us? How can science inform decision making?

Deschutes Estuary Restoration Team
http://www.deschutesestuary.org
The goal of this non profit organization is to reconnect the Deschutes River to the Puget Sound Estuary. The organization argues that the damming of the river, which created Capitol Lake, does not allow the river to act as a naturally functioning system. The organization works toward its goal by creating a dialogue about the Deschutes River ecosystem and how this reconnection will contribute to a healthier ecosystem. The website provides articles, websites, blogs, and information on meeting and legislative activity.

Capitol Lake Improvement and Protection Association (C.L.I.P.A.).
http://www.savecapitollake.org/contact/clipa.html
The Capitol Lake Improvement and Protection Association is an association of citizens who are concerned with the incomplete science and lack of public involvement in studies conducted on Capitol Lake. The work of the Association centers on the improvement of the water quality in the Deschutes watershed, maintaining the Capitol Lake basin, and accomplishing both these goals as equitably as possible. The website offers information on the findings of the Center’s research, as well as information on how to get involved.
