“My research in ecosystem ecology addresses linkages between plant diversity and ecosystem function, and community responses to disturbance. I focus on forest ecology, plant community ecology, big disturbances, soil carbon, nutrient cycling, root dynamics, tree physiology, and forest carbon cycling. When I’m not doing research or teaching, you’ll find me on the trail, mountain biking, road biking, sea kayaking, canoeing in the south sound, playing on rivers, or hanging out with my wife, daughter, and our two dogs Gladys and Bohdi.”
