SEATTLE, Wash. – Highlighted by a school-record performance in the 1500m run, the Evergreen Geoducks wrapped up a week away from their studies, competing in the Club Northwest Spring Break Open on Saturday at Husky Stadium in Seattle, Wash.
The top performance for the Geoducks came at the feet of junior Karissa Carlson (Pateros, Wash./Pateros HS), who took second in the 1500m run with a school-record time of 4:45.33. The time, which came in Carlson’s first outdoor race of the season, also qualified her for the 2011 Cascade Conference Championship in May.
Freshman Jay Bolton (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva HS) improved his season-bests in both the shot put and discus, getting closer to qualifying for the conference championships in both.
The Geoducks will head south of the 45th-parallel next weekend when they travel to Salem, Ore. to participate in the Willamette Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
