LACEY, Wash. – With the sun shining and competing just a short distance from campus, the Evergreen Geoducks put together some strong performances on Saturday at the Saint Martin’s Invitational in nearby Lacey, Wash.
Junior Karissa Carlson (Pateros, Wash./Pateros HS) shined in a competitive 1500m run as she set a new school record in the event yet again, taking third with a time of 4:43.57 to earn the Geoducks six points.
In the women’s 100m high hurdles, junior Evelyn Coleman (Oak Harbor, Wash./Oak Harbor HS) broke her own school record for the second time this season, posting a time of 21.43 to set the new program best.
For the men, freshman Jared Clarke (Olympia, Wash./Capital HS) set a new season best in the men’s 1500m run with a time of 4:16.32 in his collegiate debut in the nearly four lap race. Sophomore Connor Abdelnoor (Singapore/Singapore American School) won his heat of the 110m hurdles, taking fifth overall with a mark of 16.89.
Abdelnoor also took 10th in the 400m hurdles, finishing exactly one second ahead of freshman teammate Zephyr Forest (Fairfax, Calif./Drake HS) with a time of 1:01.13.
The Geoducks wrap up the regular season next Saturday as they make a short trip south to Centralia for the NAIA Exhibition Meet at Centralia HS. The meet, which is co-hosted by Evergreen and Warner Pacific, will have collegiate and high school races interspersed throughout the day.
