FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Improving on his season-best in the 400m hurdles by nearly a second, sophomore Zephyr Forest (Fairfax, Calif./Drake HS) picked up his second Cascade Conference Championship qualifying mark to lead the Evergreen Geoduck effort on Saturday at the Pacific Preview meet in Forest Grove, Ore.
Forest posted a time of 1:02.43 to take ninth in the 400m hurdles but the mark was quick enough to earn him a place at the conference championships. Last week, he met the qualifying mark in the 110m hurdles at the PLU Invitational.
On the women’s side, freshman Tati Hankins (East Wenatchee, Wash./Eastmont HS) improved on her outdoor best in the high jump, clearing 4-8.25 (1.43m) to tie for seventh.
The Geoducks will remain in-state this week when they head up to historic West Seattle Stadium on Saturday to participate in the Club Northwest Spring Break Open. The first event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
