TACOMA, Wash. – Paced by a second-place performance by senior Karissa Carlson (Pateros, Wash./Pateros HS) in the 800m run, the Evergreen Geoducks put forth a small, but strong, performance at the JD Shotwell Invitational on Saturday at Baker Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.
Carlson, the lone female Geoduck to compete on Saturday, completed the two-lap race in 2:23.48, just over a second behind Alicia Burns of host Puget Sound. Freshman Les Jones (Tacoma, Wash./Mt. Tahoma HS) ran the 800m for the first time in his collegiate career, taking 15th with a time of 2:06.29.
Aaron Jones (San Bruno, Calif./Capuchino HS) took 11th in the 5000m run with a time of 16:53.38. Sophomore Zephyr Forest (Fairfax, Calif./Drake HS) rounded out the action for the Geoducks, taking 15th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.38 and 11th in the 400m hurdles with a mark of 1:01.17.
The Geoducks will continue to look for Cascade Conference Championship qualifying marks on Saturday when they head down to Forest Grove, Ore. for the Pacific Luau Meet.
