PARKLAND, Wash. – Senior Karissa Carlson (Pateros, Wash.) won the 800m run by nearly four seconds in her outdoor season debut as the Evergreen Geoducks took part in the PLU Invitational on Saturday in Parkland, Wash.

Carlson’s winning mark in the two-lap race was 2:22.47, nearly four seconds faster than Heather Spurling of Lewis & Clark.  Freshman Tati Hankins (East Wenatchee, Wash./Eastmont HS) tied for sixth place in the women’s high jump, clearing 4-8.0 (1.42m).  Hankins also competed in the triple jump, posting a mark of 28-7.25 (9.02m) to take 10th place.

On the men’s side, freshman Les Jones (Tacoma, Wash./Mt. Tahoma HS) took 23rd in the 400m dash with a time of 54.12 while Alex Messman (Lacey, Wash./River Ridge HS) took 29th in the 1500m run with a time of 4:41.07.

Sophomore Zephyr Forest (Fairfax, Calif./Drake HS) finished 15th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 17.03 and 12th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.24.

Evergreen will be back in action again on Saturday when the Geoducks head to Oregon to take place in either the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open in Portland or the Pacific Preview in Forest Grove.
