PARKLAND, Wash. – Opening up the outdoor portion of the 2011 track and field schedule, the Evergreen Geoducks got off to a strong start on Saturday at the PLU Invitational in Parkland, Wash.
Sophomore Connor Abdelnoor (Singapore/Singapore American HS) made the day a record setting one, breaking his own school record in the 400m hurdles by nearly a quarter second, tying for second with a time of 58.5 and qualifying for the 2011 Cascade College Conference Championships.
Youth led the way for Evergreen on the women’s side as sophomore Meaghan Tomasiewicz (Monroe, Wis./Monroe HS) and freshman Kailene Rollins (Elma, Wash./Elma HS) each cleared 1.43m in the high jump to meet the CCC Championship qualifying mark.
Junior Britta Peterson (Port Orchard, Wash./South Kitsap HS) placed fourth in the 10,000m run, finishing the 25-lap race in a time of 45:16.08.
The Geoducks will have next weekend off from competition before heading up to Shoreline on March 26 for the Club Northwest Spring Break Open at King’s High School.
