PORTLAND, Ore. –  The school record book was rewritten not once, not twice but four times on Saturday as the Evergreen Geoducks put together a successful meet on Saturday at the Lewis & Clark Invitational in Portland, Ore.

Junior Karissa Carlson (Pateros, Wash./Pateros HS) battled in the 800m run, finishing second with a school-record time of 2:17.01, just 26 hundredths of a second behind Theresa Bailey of NCAA Division I Portland.  Carlson also put forth an outstanding effort in the 1500m run, taking seventh with another school-record time of 4:43.93, just 1.43 seconds short of the NAIA provisional qualifying time.

The third record of the day came in the women’s 100m hurdles as Evelyn Coleman (Oak Harbor, Wash./Oak Harbor HS) ran 21.49 in just the second ever performance in the event by a Geoduck woman.  Record number four came in the women’s pole vault as Meaghan Tomasiewicz (Monroe, Wis./Monroe HS) cleared 2.90m to improve her own best mark.

While the men didn’t set any records, they didn’t come away without some strong performances of their own.  Connor Abdelnoor (Singapore/Singapore American School)  finished 10th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.57.  Senior Tyler Luce (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt HS) set the top season mark in the 3000m steeplechase, taking 11th with a time of 11:38.22.

The Geoducks will head back down to Oregon next weekend as they head to historic Hayward Field on the campus of University of Oregon for the 2011 Oregon Relays.
