Native American History

Before East Bay was developed into a park it was home to Native Americans. They called this land “cheetwoot” which means land of the bear. recourses such as shellfish, salmon and berries where abundant and provided the Natives with a sustenance, while massive cedar trees were used to makes longhouses, canoes, clothing and baskets. This land was important the natives however since this time it has been stolen from them.
