The Path over the Dam and around the Lake
The path around Capitol Lake is either 1.5 or 1.7 miles long depending on if you take the inside North basin shoreline trail and sidewalk loop or the outside Heritage Park perimeter road and sidewalk loop. From the sidewalk loop just east of the dam, you can choose either the shoreline trail to the right or the longer Heritage Park perimeter road to the left. The sidewalk loop portion of the trail which runs over the dam and parallel to fifth avenue is very narrow. This section is roughly 80-feet long yet less than 4-feet wide (estimates from google earth view of Capitol Lake Dam). The trail users are rather polite while taking turns to pass this narrow stretch. On either side of the dam is often an area where strangers exchange comments, sparking conversations that fill the silence. A place where you get close to the residents of the Pacific Northwest.

This is perfect in my opinion. I really like the data you put down at the bottom it’s a nice addition. I also like that you added links in your post as well!
