Capitol Lake Dam from 4th Ave. Bridge
Whenever I journey to the Capitol Lake Dam, the Capitol Building is always catching my eye, its grand dome peeking over the conifers. The efforts of using the lake to highlight the Capitol Building is working for me, I’m there for the dam yet I take twice as many pictures of the Capitol Building. The dam can be viewed from many locations, but none seem to highlight the dam as well as the view from the 4th Avenue Bridge. The bridge itself is accented with parts of the sidewalk that curve outward to give an onlooker a cove of safety further away from the cars passing behind. From this vantage point, one can see the ladder that the breeding salmon use to step up over the dam and into Capitol Lake. The Great Blue Heron seems to like this spot as well. Last time I caught the Heron up under the dam. These waters must hold his favorite dinner.
