This page serves as an introduction to your Olympia Area of Inquiry as well as a summary and synthesis of thinking and work you will do throughout the quarter.
You will revise this page periodically throughout the quarter to reflect:
- Your deepening understanding of your Area of Inquiry as a “place” made up of natural and cultural features and qualities,
- And key artifacts resulting from your ongoing work with GIS, writing, and media.
By Week 10, your Olympia Page will include:
- A brief narrative description based on field notes, written reflection, image-based observation, and GIS lab work. This description provide a sense of “place” and will include a summary of current natural and cultural features, current land uses, the relationship of site to the existing waterline, and the threats to it posed by rising sea levels.
- Your GeoMashup Global map of Olympia posts.
- Images of relevant GIS labs.
- A curated gallery of photographs from image-based assignments.
- Your final visual essay.
- Descriptive, reflective and expository writing as needed to provide context for various visual elements.
